Duin

Capital ofthat part of Armenia (q.v.) under Persian rule in the fifth and sixth centuries. It was conquered by Herakleios (q.v.) in 623, but it was lost to the Arabs (q.v.) in 640. Byzantine attempts at reconquest (the last in 1045) were unsuccessful. A church council at Duin in 505 accepted the Henotikon (q.v.), and a second council in 554 rejected the Council of Chalcedon (q.v.), breaking with the Byzantine church.
